Dr. Sarria joined UTMB in 2004 and was appointed fellowship program director in 2008. He serves as subspecialty consultant and inpatient ward attending and runs an outpatient practice in general infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS and travel medicine. He teaches and mentors medical students, internal medicine residents and infectious disease fellows. He has received numerous prestigious awards denoting his commitment to patient care and education (America's Top Physicians, Best Doctors in America, Texas Super Doctors, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Academy of Oslerian Medicine Outstanding Teaching Award). In addition, he has served as investigator in HIV/AIDS clinical trials of antiretroviral agents and opportunistic infections and is the author of several peer-reviewed publications.

At UTMB, a provider's ratings are only posted when she/he has a minimum of 30 completed surveys within the past twelve months. New-to-UTMB providers or individuals in less common areas of practice may be temporarily under this threshold. We set this baseline to ensure we offer the most accurate reflection of each Individual.
