Dr. Ana M. Rodriguez’s areas of interest are family planning /contraception and minimally invasive gynecology, including robotic surgery. She is one of the nation's most experienced gynecologists in the area of hysteroscopic sterilizations. She has performed approximately 500 cases of hysteroscopic sterilizations at UTMB, in a clinical office setting which reduces cost, reduces pain and allows patients to avoid a hospital stay. Her patients for this procedure come to the gynecology clinic for treatment, and are able to walk out as soon as the procedure is complete.

Dr. Rodriguez currently is an assistant professor at UTMB in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She completed the Masters of Public Health Program at UTMB in 2013. Dr. Rodriguez is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She joined the staff of UTMB in 2009 and since then she has been actively involved in the training of medical students, residents and faculty members. Dr. Rodriguez also has a strong commitment to research in women's health.

Dr. Rodriguez’s primary research interest is in cancer prevention, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and contraception. She has been the principal investigator on projects involving the study of BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations, the use of Essure devices in permanent sterilization, and currently she is studying the risk of developing colorectal cancer in women that had received pelvic radiation. Dr. Rodriguez also has an interest in the risk of cancer associated with obesity, especially endometrial cancer.

I didn't feel like she listened to me completely, keyed in on one comment and made up her mind about the problem too quickly.Mar 15 2016
I had never seen this doctor before, didn't quite get the answers I was looking for BUT she was very attentive to what I had to say and very understanding as well. I would Definitely see her again because I felt comfortable with her.Mar 4 2016
She didn't seem interested in being my doctor. She basically told me that she was unable to help me before she had any information about my health. I felt judged and dismissed. She has the warmth of a dead fish.Mar 2 2016
I was very pleased with her. She took her time with answering all my questions. This was my first visit with her.Mar 1 2016
Thank God.Feb 2 2016
