  • Dr. Cindy Wigg was born in Nevada but grew up all over the United States. She attended college at Santa Clara University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She then attended Medical School at St. Louis University School of Medicine, graduating in 1980. She did her General Psychiatry Residency and Child Fellowship at UTMB, and then stayed on as faculty.

While in residency, Dr. Wigg was the Chief Resident, which started her interest in Residency Training. She has worked in the Residency Training Program as Assistant Director, Acting Director, and has served as the Residency Program Director since 2004. She is actively involved in the GME at UTMB, serving as the chairman of the Education Subcommittee and as a member of the GME executive committee.

Her teaching interests include working with the Physician Healer Track at UTMB, being one of the core initial faculty and serving as a preceptor for those students. She is actively involved in the St. Vincent's clinic at UTMB, a student run clinic who provides care to indigent patients in the area. She serves as one of the main faculty for the Psychiatry nights twice a month. She also serves as the faculty advisor to the Psychiatry interest group on campus.

Dr. Wigg's clinical interests are in helping adolescents and young adults who have mood or adjustment issues. She has had the pleasure of watching many of her patients grow up and have children of their own and has been able to provide treatment to them throughout their life transitions.
