Dr. Guillermo Gomez received his M.D. from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile School of Medicine in Santiago, Chile. He completed his internship and residency training in Surgery, at both his alma mater and The University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Gomez has successfully taken up several positions here at UTMB before becoming the Granville T. Hall Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery.
He is current area of research is in gastrointestinal endocrinology, more specifically, on surgical studies related to the metabolism of gastrointestinal hormones. His other interests include Endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. Dr. Gomez has more than 50 publications in peer reviewed scientific journals.
