Dr. Aakash H. Gajjar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery. He received his BA from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and his MD from The University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio. He then completed his surgical residency at The University of Oklahoma, Tulsa Oklahoma and his Colorectal Fellowship from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Gajjar includes memberships at the South Texas Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Texas Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, and American Medical Association. He has received awards and honors such as being honored in ‘Houstonia Magazine Top Doctors’ in 2014-2015 and ‘Texas Monthly Magazine Rising Stars’ in 2014-2016. His research has been published in various journals such as Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Gastroenterology, and Journal of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Gajjar is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and by The American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Dr. Gajjar’s interests involve colonoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopy and robotic surgery, diverticular disease, rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence, hemorrhoids, colon and rectal cancer, fistulas, and fissures.
