Muhannad Al Hanayneh, M.D., received his Medical Degree in 2010 from Jordan University of Science and Technology. Dr. Al Hanayneh received his internal medicine training at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. During his training in internal medicine At UTMB, Dr. Al Hanayneh received several awards including prestigious Don Powell award for excellence in internal medicine residency. He also demonstrated leadership skills and was selected among his colleagues to serve as Chief resident in 2015/2016, during this role he was devoted to teaching, patient care, and administration of departmental and education activities.
Dr. Al Hanayneh then received his gastroenterology and hepatology training at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he joined the faculty in 2019.
Dr. Al Hanayneh has published in the areas of liver cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, liver infections, colonoscopy, pancreatitis and liver biopsy techniques among other topics.
Dr. Al Hanayneh is a member of TMA (Texas Medical Association) and AMA (American Medical Association) and he is active in advocacy and advancing policy to support public health and medical legislation. He is also one of the designated young delegates for the AGA (American gastroenterology association) and has participated in meetings at Capitol Hill to advocate for colon cancer screening programs to be covered by Medicare.
He is also a member of multiple medical societies including ACG (American College of Gastroenterology), AGA (American Gastroenterology Association), ASGE (American Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy) and TSGE (Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy).
Dr. Al Hanayneh has interest in a wide range of gastrointestinal diseases as well as liver disease. His interests include: Barrett’s esophagus, acid disease, ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer screening, diseases of the anorectum, fatty liver disease, hepatitis treatment and liver cirrhosis.
