  • Dr. Amy Mrazek is an Assistant Professor of Surgery within the Department of Surgery- Trauma at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. She grew up in South Texas and attended college at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Dr. Mrazek relocated to Galveston to complete her post-graduate training at UTMB Health, which included medical school, general surgery residency, three-year research fellowship and Ph.D. in human pathophysiology and translational medicine. She began her surgical critical care fellowship training at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and completed it as well as acute care burn surgery training at UTMB and Shriners Children’s Texas in Galveston. Dr. Mrazek is a member of the Association of Academic Surgeons, American Burn Association, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and American College of Surgeons. Her clinical interests include acute care surgery, management of trauma, acute burns, and critically ill patients. Her research interests include pancreatitis, gastrointestinal oncology, sepsis, and coagulopathy. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, dancing two-step to ballroom, and collecting antiques.
