Married for 36 years to Dr. Tommy Sim, an allergy/immunology specialist in Friendswood, TX. Dr. Sim is a proud mother of 3 children; Tom, diagnosed with Autism, graduated from University of Houston in HRM, currently employed at UTMB Health Clear Lake Campus hospital; Timmy, graduated from Baylor University with a BS in Biology, currently schooling in Computer Science at UHCL; and Theresa, graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from UT Austin. I feel empathetic to parents with children with disability. I feel a need to share my family's story about my eldest son with Autism and maybe can inspire somebody like him to strive and succeed.

I am grateful for the opportunities that came my way. I am honored for the trust that parents have given to me to take care of their children's health. I feel rewarded when I see my patients grow up healthy and become good citizens.

Her professional associations include the Texas Pediatric Society, Bay Area Pediatric Society and the Harris County Medical Society.

She believes that good listening leads to good care and appreciates the opinions of parents.

In her spare time, she enjoys playing the piano, reading and traveling with her family.

Dr. Jennifer Caffey joined UTMB Pediatric Associates in 2009 after being in private practice for 5 years.  She completed her pediatric residency at UTMB in Galveston where she was Chief Resident.  She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biomedical Science, and then earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.  She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Caffey's practice focuses on caring for children of all ages.  She enjoys preventative medicine including maintenance of childhood immunizations, promoting safe environments for children, encouraging healthy eating and lifestyle habits, and advising families how to help promote normal development of their children's bodies and minds.  Dr. Caffey understands that a child's health is greatly improved with the active involvement of his or her family and encourages this by offering support to the entire family.  Her scope of practice includes patients from birth to 18 years old.  In addition to treating common childhood illnesses, she has experience caring for children with asthma, allergies, eczema, and numerous other illnesses.

Dr. Jean McAtee joined UTMB Pediatric Community Based Clinics in 1995 after completing her pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine.  She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.  With a commitment to ongoing continuing medical education, she maintains board certification by the American Academy of Pediatrics. She also serves on the school health advisory board for CCISD.

Dr. McAtee's practice focuses on preventative care, including maintenance of childhood immunizations, promoting safety measures and encouraging families to help their children maintain a healthy body weight.  As a mother of four children, she understands the concerns of parents; therefore, she encourages active involvement from them regarding their children's health care.  Her scope of practice includes patients from birth through 18 years of age.  In addition to treating common childhood illnesses, she has experience in caring for children with allergies, asthma, atopic dermatitis/eczema and attention deficit disorder.

Dr. Raquel Mena received her medical degree graduating cum laude from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.

Dr. Mena's philosophy of practice is to provide parents as much information as possible to promote healthy dietary and safety habits. She welcomes questions from parents.

She is fluent in both Spanish and French. Dr. Mena resides in the Clear Lake area. In her free time, Dr. Mena enjoys reading and traveling.

Dr. Kyralessa B. Ramirez joined the UTMB League City Pediatric and Adult Primary Care clinic in January 2012.  Prior to joining UTMB, she worked for 2 years in South Houston at a pediatric private practice.

Dr. Ramirez received her medical degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo.  She attended the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston where she completed her pediatric residency in 2009.

Dr. Ramirez's clinical interests include the prevention and treatment of common pediatrics illnesses, specifically ear infections. She is interested in the treatment of eczema as well as other common skin disorders, preventive pediatrics and anticipatory guidance.  She enjoys helping new parents with their newborn babies, counseling them about breastfeeding and infant safety. Dr. Ramirez is fluent in English and Spanish.  She is married to Dr. Rafael A. Fonseca, a faculty member in the Department of Neonatology at UTMB, Galveston.  She enjoys taking care of a diverse population of patients.

Dr. Thint has been residing in Clear Lake/Friendswood area since 1994. She began her medical profession after completing her medical school in her home town, Yangon, Myanmar, in 1984. After moving to the United States, she completed her pediatric residency program at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD (1992) and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship with the Children's National Medical Center and the Food and Drug Administration in Washington, DC (1994). Her first job was Assistant Clinical Professor position at University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) (1994-1996). She was responsible for teaching and research as well as taking care of both inpatients and outpatients. Her areas of interest and research were in middle ear infections.

Dr. Thint continued to see pediatric patients after she joined MacGregor Medical Group, a large multi-specialty group and continued pediatric clinical research from 1996-2002. The next adventure was a position as a pediatric hospitalist for four local hospitals in the Clear Lake/Pasadena area (Bayshore Medical Center, Clear Lake Regional Hospital, SE Memorial Hospital and Mainland Medical Center) from 2002-2007. She then joined Texas Children's Pediatrics for over 10 years (2007-2017) as a general pediatrician.

She has now come full circle and is very excited to be with UTMB again to care for your children. She is a board certified pediatrician and a mom. And she believes that listening to you is very important and that team work with you is very essential. This way she can strive to successfully keep your children at their highest quality of physical, emotional and social health.

Dr. Kimble joined UTMB Health Community Based Clinics in 2015. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics after completing her residency at UT Houston Health Science Center. She has a bachelor's degree from Hampton University.  She was in private practice shortly after residency and co-owned the practice for 10 years. She is a married professional with 4 children; 2 sets of twins identical boys and fraternal girls. Eventually she and her family made a change and moved to San Antonio where she worked as a general pediatrician, urgent care physician and then a hospitalist before moving back to the Houston area.

Dr. Kimble serves on the Student Health Advisory Committee and is a mentor to area youth. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, and Houston Medical Forum.

She has a special interest outside of the love for the children she cares for in her clinic and chasing butterflies in their ears, she also enjoys her multiples families given her bond with them having her own sets of multiples. More recently she has had the unique opportunity to work on the reality show, Outdaughtered that can be viewed on TLC for the last few years.

Amy Laird- Payne was born and raised in the Brazosport Area. She is a 1996 graduate of Brazoswood High school. She received her Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies with an emphasis in Medical Education from The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth in 2003.

Amy joined the UTMB Lake Jackson Pediatric Clinic in March 2018. She has worked in Pediatric Medicine as a Certified Physician Assistant in the Brazosport Area for the past 15 years and has been certified by the NCCPA since 2003.

Amy is passionate about empowering people to pursue their dreams and obtain great health. She enjoys spending time with her family and performing volunteer work in the community. She lives in the Brazosport Area with her husband and 3 children.

Dr. Mohammad Fouad Azim is a Board-Certified Pediatrician (2010). He completed his Pediatrics Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he was also a student during his 4th year of Medical School.

He adores children and considers himself both fortunate and blessed to take care of the youngest Texans. A parent himself, he understands the importance of addressing parental concerns about all aspects of their child's health.

Dr. Azim comes from a family of over thirty physicians and in his free time he enjoys photography and writing. He is a published author of a well-received coming of age novel for teens and young adults.

Roxanna Sanchez began her nursing career with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) graduating in 2008. Upon graduation, Roxanna went to work at the Texas Medical Center as an operating room and perioperative nurse working with children and adults. Roxanna's dedication towards her patients and passion for aiding in the healthcare of others lead her to pursue her Master's degree of Nursing. She wanted to be more closely involved in her patients' care and began her degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and graduated from UTMB in 2012. She currently helps prepare future nurse practitioner students by being their mentor during clinical rotations.

Roxanna is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, is bilingual and also a member of the International Nursing Honors Society, Sigma Theta Tau. She is a member of the Galveston Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses.
