Dr. Campbell comes to UTMB Health from the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, where he most recently served as the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Chief Academic Officer, and Associate Professor of Family Medicine. He also served as their Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion and Director of their Research Group for Underrepresented Minorities in Academic Medicine. Prior to his tenure at East Carolina University, Dr. Campbell served on the faculties at Florida State University College of Medicine and the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Dr. Campbell earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL. He completed a residency with the Tallahassee Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Tallahassee, FL.

Dr. Campbell currently holds the Sealy Hutchings and Lucille Wright Hutchings Chair in Family Medicine.

Samuel Kahiu is a graduate of Texas Woman's University in Houston, where he obtained his Master of Science in Nursing. Samuel specializes as an experienced family nurse practitioner, and enjoys all aspects of family medicine and urgent care.

Dr. Cajigas is a family physician. She received her MD from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico and completed her family medicine residency at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio. Dr. Cajigas always strives to give her all to patients and make them feel like they are part of her family. She enjoys traveling when she can and watching comedies. She also enjoys a home-cooked meal with her family!

Dr. Azhar joined UTMB's Department of Family Medicine in 1993. He attended medical school at Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India. Dr. Azhar completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at the Royal College of Surgeons in England then completed a fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmogy at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

Dr. Azhar advanced his career by receiving additional residency training at UTMB in the Department of Family Medicine.  In addition to his doctorate degree, he earned an MBA from the University of Houston, Clear Lake.

Dr. Azhar is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Azhar's interests are in family medicine, ophthalmology and residency training.

Tiffany Perez, DO is originally from Houston, Texas. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Following this, she attended medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Auburn, Alabama. She completed residency at Oklahoma State University/OMECO Teaching Health Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dr. Perez puts the needs of her patients at the forefront of everything she does and continually strives to deliver the best levels of patient care at all times. She pursued family medicine because she enjoys taking care of patients of all ages and backgrounds. Her clinical interests include minor procedures, women's health, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Perez’s hobbies include spending time with family, playing with her dog, and traveling. She is excited to join UTMB and hopes to make a positive impact in the community.

Dr. Sagar Kamprath joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2019 as the Integrative and Behavioral Medicine Fellow. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Kamprath earned a Bachelor's of Science from the University of Pittsburgh in Reading, Pennsylvania and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed a residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Kamprath is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Kamprath's clinical interests include Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine), mindfulness, Kampo (traditional Japanese medicine), nutrition, and calisthenics. As a medical student, he completed a scholarly project exploring the efficacy of mindfulness meditation as a modality to improve pain perception and blood pressure in older adults with back pain. He has traveled extensively to Japan for global health training (he is fluent in Japanese), and has studied the aging crisis in Japan, as well as medical traditions of Japan (Kampo) and India (Ayurveda). In May 2019, Dr. Kamprath presented his work to the World Organization of Family Doctors' Asia Pacific Conference in Kyoto, Japan.

Dr. Kalia was born and raised in Texas, is a Texas A&M University Alumni, and is here to serve her community. She likes to come up with individualized realistic health plans and medical treatments with her patients. She truly enjoys the variety of medical conditions she gets to treat as a primary care physician, as well as the bonds she creates with her patients. Currently, she is an assistant clinical professor for UTMB who enjoys teaching also.

Medicine is her hobby. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family which includes laughing at her husband's dad jokes and son's humor, cooking, audio-books, movies, volunteering, and research. Her grandmother, parents, and siblings all reside in League City.

Melanie Gray was born in Houston, TX and raised in the once small town of Pearland, TX. She initially received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from UTMB in 2004, graduating with honors. After working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Texas Children's Hospital and in the Day Surgery Unit at University General Hospital, she pursued her master's degree at UTMB. With two young girls, one on the way, and the help of her husband, she received her Master's of Science in Nursing and became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015.

With a passion for primary care, she accepted a position at Texas Gulf Coast Medical Group in 2016. At TGCMG, she grew as a nurse practitioner and served as a preceptor. Recently, she joined the Primary and Specialty Care Clinic at UTMB.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She can usually be found hustling kids to different activities or enjoying time outdoors.

Kaitlin Armstrong was born and raised in the Great State of Texas. She attended the University of Texas San Antonio and obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology in 2008. She lived in San Antonio for 8 years before moving back to her hometown of The Woodlands to be closer to her family. In 2015, she moved to Galveston to further her education. She obtained both her BSN and MSN from UTMB, and now calls Galveston home. She has been with UTMB since 2017 and her background includes inpatient med-surg and urgent care. Kaitlin is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and her clinical areas of special interest are Family Medicine, preventative healthcare, and urgent care. In her free time, Kaitlin enjoys hanging out with her husband, family and friends, watching movies, and being outdoors.
