Nancy Ross comes from a long line of health care professionals and is a long time nurse, first specializing in cardiac surgery, then wanting more patient contact, obtained her master's degree and becoming a Nurse Practitioner. From there Nancy worked in a private solo practice in Alvin for three years, enjoying seeing a wide variety of patient conditions, including our older patients. Upon coming to UTMB, Nancy worked with oncology patients in the Department of Surgery before working in primary care and enjoyed the professional challenges of working with the patient population.

A recurrent theme of Nancy's career is that she enjoys challenges and learning at every opportunity to provide the best outcomes for her patients. When her mother retired at 67 from nursing, her mother found new challenges to enjoy in a new career as a published poet and author. Nancy took this to heart, understanding that every phase of life is a challenge to be relished and enjoyed. Nancy also enjoys quilting, baking, travelling and reading a good book.

My name is Casey Buck. My clinical areas of special interest are preventative healthcare and Family Medicine. I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family. I am an avid Houston sports fan, dedicated husband, and dog Dad.

Dr. Totini Chatterjee completed her fellowship in Geriatrics and Internal Medicine at Medical College of Wisconsin. She then completed her Nephrology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Chatterjee is an assistant professor of Geriatric Medicine and Nephrology serves as an attending faculty on the ACE Unit, Geriatric and Nephrology Consults, and Geriatric and Nephrology Clinic Services.

Dr. Pilgrim joined UTMB Health’s Department of Family Medicine in 2021 as a Resident in training. He currently holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor as a board certified Family Medicine Physician. Dr. Pilgrim received a Bachelor of Science and graduated from The University of Houston Downtown in Houston, Texas. He then earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch. His areas of special clinical interest include Lifestyle Medicine, Weight Loss, Diabetes, Smoking Cessation, and Mental Health. Dr. Pilgrim chose family medicine because he enjoys the challenge of caring for people across the full spectrum of life-stages and because he believes in the importance of caring for not just individuals, but for families as a whole.

In his free time he enjoys spending quality time with family, getting outdoors, listening to audiobooks, and a variety of activities centered around physical fitness.

Dr. Shakira Dhamotharan was born and raised in the state of New York. She completed all of her academic and medical training at St. Georges University in Grenada, West Indies. There she received a Master's degree in Public Health as well as her MD degree. She finished her residency in Family Medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital in Patterson, NJ. Dr. Dhamotharan held the positions of Assistant Program Director of Family Medicine Residency Program, and Instructor of Family and Community Medicine at New York Medical College where she practiced primary care as well as had an academic role. Additionally, in this position she assisted with research projects, trained residents as well as lectured fundamental family medicine practices to both medical students and residents.

Dr. Dhamotharan is actively involved in volunteering and serves on the Board of Directors for Team Triumphant, a children's charity organization that aspires to educate inner city youth with the necessary skills to graduate high school. Triumphant also assists them in attaining the resources needed to discover colleges and apply to them. She has traveled to Trinidad to volunteer her services with the Ministry of Health to assist with public health matters. She serves as international correspondent for the Sundar Charitable Trust whose primary goal is to bring math and reading supplies to poor villages in Tamil Nadu, India. Every two years, Dr. Dhamotharan and her husband visit this Trust and the local children to determine what steps need to be made to increase literacy rates.

Dr. Dhamotharan currently lives in Sugarland, TX with her husband and two sons. She and her husband are active members in Meenakashi Temple. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians and she's been a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians since 2010.

Tiffany Perez, DO is originally from Houston, Texas. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Following this, she attended medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Auburn, Alabama. She completed residency at Oklahoma State University/OMECO Teaching Health Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dr. Perez puts the needs of her patients at the forefront of everything she does and continually strives to deliver the best levels of patient care at all times. She pursued family medicine because she enjoys taking care of patients of all ages and backgrounds. Her clinical interests include minor procedures, women's health, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Perez’s hobbies include spending time with family, playing with her dog, and traveling. She is excited to join UTMB and hopes to make a positive impact in the community.

Jillian was born and raised in the Houston area. She initially received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing in 2010. She graduated in 2017 with her Master's Degree in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington School of Nursing and Health Science Innovation, specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Jillian joined the UTMB Community Based Clinics (CBC) in Webster in August 2017. She moved to UTMB CBC Friendswood location in 2022. She was a Registered Nurse from 2010-2017 before starting her role as a Nurse Practitioner. Her experience as a bedside nurse primarily includes a women's health background.

Jillian is board certified in Family Medicine as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Jillian enjoys spending time hiking, traveling and fishing with her children and husband. She is an avid Texas Longhorn and Houston Astros fan.

Maria Escamilla is a certified nurse practitioner. She graduated with her Masters of Science in Nursing from UTMB and her clinical interests include occupational medicine and family practice medicine.

Ms. Guzman joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2020.

Ms. Guzman earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Community Health from the Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and a Master in Physician Assistant Studies from UTMB Health in Galveston.

She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
