Dr. Faranak Behnia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine. Dr. Behnia is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine. After her medical training, Dr. Behnia completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and her MFM fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Her clinical interests include prenatal ultrasound screening and diagnosis, genetic screening and diagnosis, management of pregnancies with complex maternal medical conditions or congenital fetal abnormalities. Her research interests include oxidative stress induced senescence of fetal membranes and its role in parturition, and impact of environmental toxicants in preterm birth.

She is a recipient of multiple awards including Outstanding Achievement in Medical Student Education, Outstanding Basic Science Poster Awards and Patients Choice Award.

As an MFM specialist, Dr. Behnia believes taking care of women during pregnancy is a privilege. She is passionate about providing highest quality of care for high-risk pregnant patients and meeting the needs of their care providers.

Dr. Behnia is a proud resident of Galveston County. When she is not caring for her patients, Dr. Behnia enjoys spending time with her family and fitness.
