Stacy is a board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Her clinical interests include preventative care, chronic disease medicine, and population health. She is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Sonia Bhatt attended Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and UTMB for her residency in internal medicine. She is professionally interested in the management of diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, not just with medication but by promoting positive and healthy lifestyle changes. Dr. Bhatt also emphasizes the importance of annual wellness screenings and disease prevention.

Dr. Megan Berman earned her medical degree at Loyola University in Chicago and completed her residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. She worked as a hospitalist in South Carolina prior to joining faculty at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2008. She is an Assistant Professor of General Medicine at UTMB and Medical Director of the Anticoagulation Clinic. She is active clinically with a private clinic at Harborside Medical Group as well as supervising doctors in training at Jennie Sealy Hospital, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital, and the Daniels clinic. She is involved in resident education, delivering lectures, and has taught medical students in the Practice of Medicine course. Dr. Berman has a particular interest in assessing and improving the quality of care delivered to all patients. She has completed the MD Anderson Clinical safety and Effectiveness Program and is actively pursuing projects to improve quality and efficiency of care.

Shelly Doss is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner currently practicing at The University of Texas Medical Branch. She has provided critical care in surgery, trauma, burn and transplant intensive care units in a variety of academic medical centers. She obtained a master's degree in critical care/education and worked in the emergency department and in critical care units for the Department of Defense where she taught Advanced Cardiac Life Support and the Trauma Nursing Core Course at William Beaumont Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center.

She has served as a faculty member at the University of Texas Medical Branch and at Texas Woman's University/ Parkland Campus in Dallas. She returned to Texas Woman's University to obtain a postgraduate certification as a family nurse practitioner and after several years in a collaborative internal medicine practice in San Antonio, she returned to the University of Texas Medical Branch and worked in the Division of Cardiology for thirteen years.

She is now practicing in Internal Medicine and enjoys providing comprehensive, individualized patient care. In addition, she works in collaboration with others teaching medical residents and nursing students empathy in clinical practice and conflict management. Her research interests are focused in biomedical ethics. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.

Alberto Gutierrez completed his medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He worked as faculty at the Vermont Medical Center in 2016 before joining faculty at UTMB in 2018.

He focuses on outpatient care and preventive services. He places a strong emphasis on patient education to improve outcomes and previously taught clinical skills to physicians in training. He is currently accepting patients at the Primary Care Pavilion and is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Jackson has been with UTMB since 2011 when he started his medical education. After graduating from Medical School at UTMB, he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine with UTMB in Galveston. Dr. Jackson first joined the UTMB Community Based Clinics in 2018. In 2020, he transferred to UTMB/TDCJ in Galveston as the Associate Medical director and Transitional Care Unit director. Dr. Jackson is committed to taking care of the people in his community in Galveston and we are excited to have him rejoin the Community Based Clinic’s Family in 2023 as a Galveston Provider.

He is married to Maira Jackson, BSN, RN, BC, who also works for UTMB at the Galveston campus, they have 4 adorable children. Dr. Jackson enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering with the Luke Society, mentoring, traveling, cooking and gardening. He is a Veteran of the US Air Force.

Dr. Khowaja is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency training at UTMB and received her medical degree from Texas A & M University College of Medicine. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors as well as in Psychology with honors. Her professional interests include general preventative medicine, and management of chronic conditions such as hypertension.

Dr. Paul Park is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. He currently serves as Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program and also the Unit Based Clinical Leaders Medical Director for the Jennie Sealy 11C unit. His undergraduate education was at University of Texas at San Antonio, followed by medical school at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. After serving an additional year as Chief Resident from 2018-2019, Dr. Park joined the faculty in the Division of General Medicine. He currently practices medicine both in the outpatient and inpatient setting. His greatest passion is teaching residents on inpatient rounds as well as outpatient precepting.

Dr. Reinertson obtained his medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed his residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Reinertson has returned to UTMB after working in Cedar Falls, Iowa to continue his interests in inpatient and outpatient care, medical education and medical care in remote and challenging environments.

Erika Schulze was born and raised in the Midwest in Illinois 30 minutes outside of St. Louis, MO. She completed her academic training at Goldfarb School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. Her experience spans 16 years, which included working at Barnes Hospital as staff nurse on general medicine floor for 8 years; Pulmonary and Critical Care research at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. In 2003, Erika was accepted into graduate school at Goldfarb School of Nursing and completed Master of Science degree in Nursing with focus as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. This program was two and half years of additional medical assessment and decision training including diagnostic testing. Since completing Graduate School, she has worked in the primary care setting. She moved to Texas and started working at UTMB in January 2013.

During her time off, she enjoys her home, gardening, and time with her family and friends. She is passionate about animal welfare charities and animal fostering programs. Erika is also very passionate about the mental health of the community. She chairs a weekly support group, Nar Anon, for family and friends of those suffering from addiction.
