  • Dr. Grant received his BA at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA.  He then obtained his medical degree from Duke University, Durham, NC in 1966.  He trained in internal medicine at New York Hospital-Cornell, New York, NY and in allergy-immunology at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD and Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.  Dr. Grant joined the faculty of UTMB in 1973 and rose to Professor in the departments of medicine and microbiology/immunology.  He served as Program Director for the Allergy-Immunology Fellowship for 46 years.

    Dr. Grant is also active in clinical research and recently has focused on new therapies for patients with angioedema and immunodeficiency.  Frequently he receives referrals from area physicians for patients with complex problems in his specialty, especially asthma, drug-food-insect allergy, hives, edema and anaphylactic reactions. For the past twenty years, he has conducted a weekly telemedicine program for patients in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice that focuses on those with the most severe asthma.

    Dr. Grant is board certified in internal medicine, allergy-immunology and diagnostic immunology, and he has been listed in Best Doctors in America since 1992 and Super Doctors® since 2005.
