  • Susanna is a native Houstonian who grew up in the Richmond-Rosenberg area. She attended Texas A&M and graduated suma cum laude with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. She then obtained a master’s degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Physician Assistant Studies and was awarded the distinction of Who’s Who among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She received additional training through a PA residency program at the Michael E. DeBakey VA hospital in the Houston Medical Center. She then started her current position with UTMB Ear, Nose, and Throat specialists where she sees a wide variety of general ENT patient concerns in the outpatient setting as well as performing various in-office procedures. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, reading, and being involved at her local church.

  • Dr. Darling attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison and graduated with a BS in chemistry. He attended the Chicago Medical School where he was invited to join the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Societies before receiving his MD in 2012. He completed his Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2017 and immediately joined the faculty in the Department of Otolaryngology at UTMB Health.   • Mr. Davis, a Southeast Houston native, graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Humanities. He returned to his hometown of Deer Park and taught high school Biology and Anatomy before continuing his medical education. Reagan then obtained his Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2018, where he served as class Vice President. Mr. Davis began his medical career as a PA here at UTMB and sees both adult and pediatric patients for General ENT disorders, with a specialty interest in head and neck cancers and myofascial pain. He remains passionate about education and enjoys teaching rotating clinical students as well as providing lectures to didactic students.   • Dr. Resto graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1992 with a bachelor degree in Chemistry. He then completed the combined M.D., Ph.D. program at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2000. His doctoral degree is from the Department of Human Genetics for dissertation work in cancer genetics. He next pursued internship training in General Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by residency training in the Harvard Combined Program in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. In 2006, he completed advanced clinical fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology, Skull Base, and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. He joined the full time faculty staff at UTMB in July, 2006.

    Clinically, he focuses on facial plastics, reconstructive surgery, and skull base surgery. Scientifically, Dr. Resto directs a basic science laboratory focused on the study of the molecular mechanisms important for lymphatic metastasis and tumor tolerance.

  • Dr. Hughes has over 30 years of experience in pediatric otolaryngology and takes care of all pediatric Ear, Nose, and Throat associated disorders. He performed his residency at Georgetown University Medical Center and fellowships at Johns Hopkins Hospital and at Children's Memorial Hospital, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.   • Dr. Calhoun studies mechanisms of asthma, with a special emphasis on steroid resistance and severe asthma. A focus of his research is dysfunction of the glucocorticoid receptor [GR] in asthma, from both pre- and post-translational mechanisms. In addition, he has interest in cytokine networking, and the regulation of inflammation and its consequences by anti-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-10. Using a murine model, Dr's Calhoun and Ameredes have demonstrated important interactions among inflammation, cytokine regulation, and gaseous signaling molecules. In addition, Dr Calhoun heads the UTMB site for the NIH-funded Asthma Clinical Research Network, a collaborative network of 8 funded centers nationwide that focuses on the key questions of asthma management.
