Dr. Maria San Andrés received her B.S. in Biomedical Science at Texas A&M University and her M.D. from Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in College Station, TX. She completed her Pediatric residency at UTMB. After residency, she began working at UTMB in the General Pediatrics Clinic and at the St. John's Hospital Newborn Nursery. She currently works in the outpatient General Pediatric Clinic and enjoys working with medical students and residents.

Dr. Varghese is a physician at the Victory Lakes Town Center Clinic in League City. Dr. Varghese completed his medical residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Tyler, Texas, where he served as Chief Resident. While clinically trained in a broad scope of medicine, his expertise includes adult and children's health, minor procedures, and preventative care.

As a physician, my patient care practices are centered around three core beliefs. First, I believe that patient autonomy should be respected. Both patient's beliefs and evidence-based medicine should be incorporated into workup and treatment plans as every patient is different. Secondly, I believe that teamwork is essential to provide the best possible care. I aim to use the knowledge and expertise of other health professionals to do so. Lastly, I believe in the importance of preventative care, which we achieve through education, screening, and counseling.

Ultimately, Dr. Varghese's goal is to address the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of health. Dr. Varghese wants to partner with his patients to empower them to restore their wellness.

Born in California, Dr. Abrahim got to Texas as fast as she could and considers herself a native Texan and true Aggie, as she attended Texas A&M University for both her undergraduate degree and medical school. She completed her Family Medicine residency at UTMB Health and is excited to be on the mainland giving back to the community in which she was raised. She aims to help her patients reach their health goals by providing comprehensive, up-to-date, evidence-based care. In her free time she enjoys exercising, watching movies, learning to cook new meals and traveling with my husband and family.

Dr. Truong Nguyen is an Assistant Professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and specializes in Gynecologic Ultrasound, Gynecology, Obstetrics and Women's Health Care.    Dr. Truong received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and completed his residency at St. Joseph Hospital in 2003.   Dr. Truong is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Ogamdi believes that patient education through an open way of communication will lead to a vital, long-lasting relationship with her patients. Dr. Ogamdi promotes patient empowerment and security in the understanding of their health, health maintenance and disease prevention, and integrative approaches to patient care. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, learning new languages, traveling, and making bold new recipes.

Dr. Ben-Okoli's special interests include prevention, health maintenance, integrative medicine, counseling and adult medicine. He is dedicated to patient empowerment and patient education which are essential to helping patients achieve their medical, mental and social health goals. He is looking forward to developing lifelong relationships with his patients and their families.

Dr. Nicanord joined The UTMB Health Department of Family Medicine in 2017. Dr. Nicanord earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology from the Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, and a Doctorate of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. Dr. Nicanord graduated from the UTMB Family Medicine Residency Program and continued his training by earning a fellowship in Geriatrics, also at UTMB.

Dr. Erin Hommel is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She also completed her fellowship and residency at Duke University Hospital where she served as Chief Resident. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Hommel currently serves as the Internal Medicine Director of Quality Management, as well as, an Associate Program Director of the internal Medicine Residency Program. She is an assistant professor of Geriatric Medicine and serves as attending faculty on the ACE Unit, Geriatric Consults, and Geriatric Clinic Service.

Dr. Jana received her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from Vassar College in New York and attended medical school at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at The University of Hawaii at Manoa. She completed her family medicine residency training at The University of Illinois in Chicago and went on to complete a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at The Albert Einstein Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Jana previously served as Major in the US Air Force and was an attending physician at Pope Air Force Base, Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Following her honorable discharge in 2001 Dr. Jana has had a successful civilian career, and she now joins us from University of Central Florida. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine with an additional certification in Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Jana's interests are in preventative medicine, medical student education and geriatrics.
