  • Russell R. Snyder, M.D., is the Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Director of the Division of Gynecology at UTMB and is the holder of the endowed Faculty Distinguished Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology Honoring Drs. Al Leblanc, Harry Little, and Charlie Powell. Dr. Snyder received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in 1982. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Gynecologic and Breast Pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C., in 1984. He retired from the USAF in 1997 as the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wilford Hall and Consultant to the Surgeon General for Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Snyder has made UTMB his home since then.

    Dr. Snyder is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been an oral board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1996. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Exxcellence Foundation for Women's Health and is a past member of the Board of Directors for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Family Medicine. He is currently on the Editorial Board for Clinical Updates in Women's Health Care and is one of the editors of the text book Step Up to Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a reviewer and past member of the editorial board for the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also a past member of the executive board of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and has been very active in other College activities and committees to include the Committee for Obstetric Practice. He is also a member of the FDA Medical Devices Advisory Panel for Obstetrics and Gynecology.

    Dr. Snyder's clinical interests include gynecologic surgery, evaluation of abnormal pap-smears, vulvar disorders, abnormal bleeding, PMS, contraception, absence of periods, and the management of menopausal symptoms.

  • Dr. Namita Bhardwaj is a native Houstonian. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin where she completed her undergraduate coursework in biology and earned her Bachelors of Science and Bachelors of Arts. She went on to attend Ross University to complete her medical education and to earn her MD.

    Dr. Bhardwaj completed her family medicine residency at UT Health in Houston, TX. She served as chief resident in her final year of training and was recognized as an outstanding PGY 3 resident and awarded the Scholarly Achievement Award. Dr. Bhardwaj then went on to pursue her fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in El Paso. There she served as team physician for several of the local teams including the El Paso Rhinos, University of Texas at El Paso Division I Sports teams, as well as area high schools covering a wide array of sports.

    In her role at UTMB, Dr. Bhardwaj serves as the medical director for Galveston ISD. You can always find her and her team of residents and students on the sidelines at Ball High School football games. Dr. Bhardwaj's scholarly interests include opioids and sports related injuries. She has also served as Physician of the Day for the Texas Legislature. Dr. Bhardwaj enjoys attending sporting events, spending time with family and friends, reading and traveling in her spare time.
