  • Dr. Namita Bhardwaj is a native Houstonian. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin where she completed her undergraduate coursework in biology and earned her Bachelors of Science and Bachelors of Arts. She went on to attend Ross University to complete her medical education and to earn her MD.

    Dr. Bhardwaj completed her family medicine residency at UT Health in Houston, TX. She served as chief resident in her final year of training and was recognized as an outstanding PGY 3 resident and awarded the Scholarly Achievement Award. Dr. Bhardwaj then went on to pursue her fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in El Paso. There she served as team physician for several of the local teams including the El Paso Rhinos, University of Texas at El Paso Division I Sports teams, as well as area high schools covering a wide array of sports.

    In her role at UTMB, Dr. Bhardwaj serves as the medical director for Galveston ISD. You can always find her and her team of residents and students on the sidelines at Ball High School football games. Dr. Bhardwaj's scholarly interests include opioids and sports related injuries. She has also served as Physician of the Day for the Texas Legislature. Dr. Bhardwaj enjoys attending sporting events, spending time with family and friends, reading and traveling in her spare time.

  • Dr. Trish Beach is Professor of Pediatrics, Co-Director of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics at UTMB and Director of the Child Safety and Protection Team. She graduated from medical school at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed her residency and Chief residency at UTMB.

    Dr. Beach has been very active in medical care in the Department of Pediatrics. She spent many years as a pediatric educator, including roles with the Academic Pediatric Association and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Her professional practice has shifted to a role in the assessment and prevention of child maltreatment in recent years. She continues active participation in the education of UTMB medical students and pediatric residents. She maintains a small practice in general pediatrics and a practice focusing on the special needs of children involved in the foster care system.

    Dr. Beach has been honored for her teaching excellence with the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Resident Education, the Department of Pediatrics Outstanding Junior Faculty Award for Education, and the Pediatric Educator Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education. She is Past-chair of the John P. McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine at UTMB, an entity charged with sustaining a culture that values and practices principles of scientifically-based compassionate care at UTMB, and modeling these principles for our learners.

  • Dr. Abbey Berenson is a Professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology who specializes in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and Women's Health Care.   She is also the Director of the UTMB Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Women's Health Care.  Dr. Berenson received her medical degree and completed her residency at the Baylor College of Medicine and received a Ph.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch.   Dr. Berenson is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Her clinical interest include Women's Health Care research, HPV vaccines and vaccination, and contraception.

    Dr. Berenson's research interests involve the study of reproductive-aged women's health. Her interest include: Comparative effectiveness studies among diverse populations of young women; Contraception practices, methods, and effects (clinical); and Interventions directed at cervical cancer prevention (clinical).  She is also studying the quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine that requires three injections spaced 1 month and 6 months after the first vaccine, and is intended for use by adolescents and adults 9-26 years of age.
