  • Dr. Mukaila Raji attended medical school at the University of Ife in Nigeria. He also completed his internal medicine residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, USA, a Geriatric Fellowship at Duke University in Durham, NC, USA, and Master of Science Degree in pharmacology at the University of Alberta in Canada. Dr. Raji is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. He is a tenured Professor and Director of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles, 80 research abstracts, and several book chapters in the areas of geriatric pharmacology, cognitive aging, and disability.

    Dr. Raji is a recipient of the 2006 Sir William Osler Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award and has earned the Edgar Gnitzinger Distinguished Professorship in Aging. He is also listed in U.S. News & World Report Top Doctors in America and has been listed in Super Doctors®. Dr. Raji teaches medical students, residents, and geriatrics fellows and serves as attending faculty on the Acute Care for the Elders Unit, Geriatric Consults, and Geriatric Clinic Service.

  • Dr. Risinger has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years and is Board Certified in Pediatrics and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She grew up in Texas City, Texas and attended Texas City High School. She went to college at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and graduated Cumma Sum Laude with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Dr. Risinger graduated with a Medical Degree from UTMB and did residency at UTMB as well. While in residency, she was able to go to Kenya for a mission trip and developed a life-long love of travel and service to others through the practice of medicine. After completing residency, she joined the practice of Drs. Raimer, Judice and Noble in 1986. She also has worked in beautiful East Texas in a practice with underserved patients.

    She has won teaching awards as well as patient care awards and has been listed in Super Doctors®. She was able to work on a 3 year project while at UTMB with the country of Armenia to develop primary care services. She has done other mission trips to the Russia, Nicaragua, Congo and Ukraine.

    In her spare time, she loves to go to Disneyworld with her son and family. She also enjoys cooking, gardening and taking her dog Max on long walks. She was in the church choir and was able to go to Italy with the choir on a mission trip.

    Her goal in life is to honor her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in all that she does. She loves her family and friends and cherishes any time that she can spend with them.

    As the years go by she enjoys the practice of pediatrics more and more each day. She likes general pediatrics but has a special interest in preventative health care, ADHD and behavioral health, infectious disease, special needs children and promoting literacy. Dr. Risinger loves pediatrics and considers it is a privilege and honor to care for your children.

  • Dr. Patricia Ann Rogers is a Professor of Pediatrics at UTMB. She joined UTMB Department of Pediatrics in 2004 and has been faculty at UTMB since 1998. Dr. Rogers is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She received her doctorate from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences (School of Medicine) in Memphis, TN. Dr.Rogers completed her pediatric residency at UTMB in Galveston, TX.

    Dr. Rogers has a special interest in teaching medical students and residents. She has received numerous teaching awards including two awards for Excellence in Clinical teaching by the John P. McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine.  In addition to holding the tittle of Distinguished Teaching Professor, member of the University of Texas Academy of Health and Science education, Dr. Rogers serves as the director of the School Health Program at UTMB.

  • Dr. Lindsay Sonstein is the Program Director for the IM residency program, Vice Chair of Graduate Medical Education and the Clinical Vice Chair for the department of Internal Medicine. She joined the faculty in 2008, after completing her medical school, residency and chief residency at UTMB in Galveston.

    She has a passion for quality and gained training in the field of health care quality by attending MD Anderson cancer center clinical safety, effectiveness course and AAMC teach for quality program. She has presented her quality work locally and regionally and has won awards for her work at the UT System Building Bridges conference as well as received funding from the UT system for development of a Train the Trainer Education model for QI.
