Barbara Herrington graduated from Texas Women's University in 2013 and is board certified by The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Barbara is originally from New York and moved to the area in 2004. She has been in the healthcare profession since 1998.

Barbara enjoys theatre, traveling, and spending time with her three children and husband. She is bilingual in English and Serbian.

Tiffany Perez, DO is originally from Houston, Texas. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Following this, she attended medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Auburn, Alabama. She completed residency at Oklahoma State University/OMECO Teaching Health Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dr. Perez puts the needs of her patients at the forefront of everything she does and continually strives to deliver the best levels of patient care at all times. She pursued family medicine because she enjoys taking care of patients of all ages and backgrounds. Her clinical interests include minor procedures, women's health, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Perez’s hobbies include spending time with family, playing with her dog, and traveling. She is excited to join UTMB and hopes to make a positive impact in the community.

Dr. Jackson has been with UTMB since 2011 when he started his medical education. After graduating from Medical School at UTMB, he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine with UTMB in Galveston. Dr. Jackson first joined the UTMB Community Based Clinics in 2018. In 2020, he transferred to UTMB/TDCJ in Galveston as the Associate Medical director and Transitional Care Unit director. Dr. Jackson is committed to taking care of the people in his community in Galveston and we are excited to have him rejoin the Community Based Clinic’s Family in 2023 as a Galveston Provider.

He is married to Maira Jackson, BSN, RN, BC, who also works for UTMB at the Galveston campus, they have 4 adorable children. Dr. Jackson enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering with the Luke Society, mentoring, traveling, cooking and gardening. He is a Veteran of the US Air Force.

Dr. Amber Hairfield joined UTMB Pediatrics as faculty in 2011. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Hairfield received her doctorate from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. She also completed her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.

Dr. Hairfield has a special interest in medical education and is currently serving as the Pediatric Residency Program Director at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston.

In addition to serving in various medical education committees, Dr. Hairfield also serves in a few UTMB Quality Improvement committees for academic pediatric clinics

Dr. Thint has been residing in Clear Lake/Friendswood area since 1994. She began her medical profession after completing her medical school in her home town, Yangon, Myanmar, in 1984. After moving to the United States, she completed her pediatric residency program at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD (1992) and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship with the Children's National Medical Center and the Food and Drug Administration in Washington, DC (1994). Her first job was Assistant Clinical Professor position at University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) (1994-1996). She was responsible for teaching and research as well as taking care of both inpatients and outpatients. Her areas of interest and research were in middle ear infections.

Dr. Thint continued to see pediatric patients after she joined MacGregor Medical Group, a large multi-specialty group and continued pediatric clinical research from 1996-2002. The next adventure was a position as a pediatric hospitalist for four local hospitals in the Clear Lake/Pasadena area (Bayshore Medical Center, Clear Lake Regional Hospital, SE Memorial Hospital and Mainland Medical Center) from 2002-2007. She then joined Texas Children's Pediatrics for over 10 years (2007-2017) as a general pediatrician.

She has now come full circle and is very excited to be with UTMB again to care for your children. She is a board certified pediatrician and a mom. And she believes that listening to you is very important and that team work with you is very essential. This way she can strive to successfully keep your children at their highest quality of physical, emotional and social health.

Dr. Wolffarth is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics who enjoys clinical work and is actively involved in medical student education.

Dr. Wolffarth grew up in the Dallas and graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Chemistry. He attended medical school at UTMB and subsequently completed his residency in pediatrics at UTMB in 2011. He has been board certified in pediatrics since 2011.

A decorated veteran that served in the Medical Corps in Iraq, Dr. Neely-Shelmire is a board-certified pediatrician with a passion for partnering with parents to raise healthy children through wellness goals, good nutrition, physical activity, healthy sleep habits, and an approach that balances the physical, emotional and developmental aspects of being a child. A parent herself with two adult sons and a host of nieces and nephews, she enjoys spending her free time running, kayaking and with family. She holds professional memberships with the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Pediatric Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Catholic Medical Association. Dr. Rodriguez Lien is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a clinician who cares for patients directly as well as supervising residents. Dr. Rodriguez Lien received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Texas Pan American. She attended medical school at University of Texas Medical Branch. She subsequently completed her pediatric residency training in 2015 from UTMB and served as chief resident the following year. She is currently the Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Residency Program.

Dr. Rodriguez Lien is actively involved in medical student education as a clinic supervisor of students in the pediatric clinics. She is also directly involved in resident education, not only through her role of associate director, but also as a faculty mentor, rotation director, and head of the board review program.

Dr. Rodriguez Lien has a passion for preventative medicine, specifically the maternal-infant bond and health benefits from breastfeeding. She also has a specific interest in mental health in pediatric care. She heads the primary care behavioral and mental health clinic at the UTMB Pediatrics Bay Colony location.

Juanita has been an FNP working in Pediatrics for UTMB for about 15 years.  She speaks both English and Spanish.  Her certification is through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  She is also a member or Sigma Theta Tau, the national nursing honor society.  Although working with children is her passion, some special interests include working with animals and boxing.

Maria Escamilla is a certified nurse practitioner. She graduated with her Masters of Science in Nursing from UTMB and her clinical interests include occupational medicine and family practice medicine.
