  • Dr. Sagar Kamprath joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2019 as the Integrative and Behavioral Medicine Fellow. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor.

    Dr. Kamprath earned a Bachelor's of Science from the University of Pittsburgh in Reading, Pennsylvania and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed a residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program.

    Dr. Kamprath is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

    Dr. Kamprath's clinical interests include Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine), mindfulness, Kampo (traditional Japanese medicine), nutrition, and calisthenics. As a medical student, he completed a scholarly project exploring the efficacy of mindfulness meditation as a modality to improve pain perception and blood pressure in older adults with back pain. He has traveled extensively to Japan for global health training (he is fluent in Japanese), and has studied the aging crisis in Japan, as well as medical traditions of Japan (Kampo) and India (Ayurveda). In May 2019, Dr. Kamprath presented his work to the World Organization of Family Doctors' Asia Pacific Conference in Kyoto, Japan.

  • Dr. Namita Bhardwaj is a native Houstonian. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin where she completed her undergraduate coursework in biology and earned her Bachelors of Science and Bachelors of Arts. She went on to attend Ross University to complete her medical education and to earn her MD.

    Dr. Bhardwaj completed her family medicine residency at UT Health in Houston, TX. She served as chief resident in her final year of training and was recognized as an outstanding PGY 3 resident and awarded the Scholarly Achievement Award. Dr. Bhardwaj then went on to pursue her fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in El Paso. There she served as team physician for several of the local teams including the El Paso Rhinos, University of Texas at El Paso Division I Sports teams, as well as area high schools covering a wide array of sports.

    In her role at UTMB, Dr. Bhardwaj serves as the medical director for Galveston ISD. You can always find her and her team of residents and students on the sidelines at Ball High School football games. Dr. Bhardwaj's scholarly interests include opioids and sports related injuries. She has also served as Physician of the Day for the Texas Legislature. Dr. Bhardwaj enjoys attending sporting events, spending time with family and friends, reading and traveling in her spare time.

  • Dr. Ryaja Johnson joined UTMB in 2023 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Johnson earned a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Health, Rehabilitation, and Primary Care from Wright State University in Dayton, OH. She completed her internship at Cherokee Health Systems in Knoxville, TN followed by completion of her Clinical Health Psychology Fellowship at Ascension Genesys in Grand Blanc, MI.

    Dr. Johnson has experience working in hospital and primary care settings, as well as, community mental health and trauma-focused specialty clinics.
