  • Dr. Jiwani received his medical degree from Sindh Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan in 1989. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Schneider Children's Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New Hyde Park, New York.

    He went on to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology in 1998, as well as a fellowship in Pediatric Echocardiography in 1999 at Schneider Children's Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. After finishing these fellowships, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor and Attending Pediatric Cardiologist for the Schneider Children's Hospital, the Jacobi Medical Center, and North Central Bronx Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he served until joining UTMB in 2006.

    He was promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics in September 2012. Dr. Jiwani is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. He sees patients with acquired and congenital heart diseases from the fetal life throughout adulthood. He enjoys teaching and believes in high quality patient care.

  • Dr. Khalife is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the UTMB Division of Cardiology. His educational background includes Heart Failure/Transplant Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Heart Institute and Cardiology Fellowship at UTMB. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular disease, Heart Failure and transplantation, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology. He was awarded the title of Master of the American Academy of Cardiology in 2010.

    Dr. Khalife is currently the Director of the Heart Failure/Transplant and Left Ventricular Assist Device Program at UTMB. He is interested in invasive cardiology, invasive heart failure and transplant as well as cardiology imaging. He has multiple ongoing research projects and many publications.

  • Dr. Kumfa was born in Cameroon, West Africa. He subsequently immigrated to Dallas TX, where he did his undergraduate studies. While at UT Dallas he studied Electrical Engineering and Premed. Thereafter, Dr. Kumfa came to UTMB for medical school. While in medical school he was in the Student Government Association and served as vice president of his class for all 4 years. He stayed at UTMB for Internal Medicine Residency. During residency he was recognized as Outstanding 2nd Year Internal Medicine Resident, and at graduation he was awarded the Don W. Powell Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine Residency. He continued his training at UTMB, where he completed General Cardiology Fellowship and Interventional cardiology. At the end of both fellowship trainings he was awarded the Hutching's Scholarship for Best Graduating Cardiology Fellow. Dr. Kumfa joined UTMB Faculty in 2016 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology. He is passionate about coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease and structural heart disease.

  • Dr Motiwala is an Interventional Cardiologist with expertise in catheter-based management of coronary, peripheral vascular, and structural heart disease. He has had a strong interest in cardiovascular diseases since the early days of medical school. After medical school he completed residency training in Dallas, TX and then moved to Chicago for his Cardiology fellowship. He moved to Philadelphia for his Interventional Cardiology fellowship and is excited to be back to Texas as Assistant Professor at UTMB.   • Dr. Rangasetty completed his fellowship training in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. He joined UTMB as Assistant Professor of Medicine in Interventional Cardiology in 2011. Dr. Rangasetty has focused on all aspects of interventional cardiology here at UTMB. As Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Jennie Sealy Hospital, he has contributed significantly to the establishment of trans-radial, complex coronary and structural interventions. He has worked closely with cardiac surgeons and other interventional cardiologists to establish a TAVR program.

    Dr. Rangasetty is the Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program, and enjoys mentoring and coaching interventional fellows. Dr. Rangasetty is passionate about his career and loves spending his time in the catheterization laboratory. His intervention skill set consists of: complex coronary lesions (CHIP), transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR), Left atrial appendage closure with watchman device, atrial septal defect and patent foramen ovale (PFO) closures, balloon aortic valvuloplasty, mitral valvuloplasty, percutaneous pulmonary valvuloplasty, cardiomems, and paravalvular leak closures. He also performs carotid, renal, iliac and SFA interventions.

  • After postdoctoral training, Dr. Sewani served as Director of Clinical Electrophysiology at Sparks Health System in Fort Smith, AR from 2008-2010. He began his academic career in 2010 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at The University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. Thereafter, he was promoted to Associate Director of the Electrophysiology Fellowship Program in 2013.

    Dr. Sewani joined UTMB faculty in 2017 as Assistant Professor of Medicine, and Director of Atrial Fibrillation Arrhythmia Program, in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology. Dr. Sewani is Associate Director of the General Cardiology Fellowship program at UTMB and actively participate in fellowship education.
