Samuel Kahiu is a graduate of Texas Woman's University in Houston, where he obtained his Master of Science in Nursing. Samuel specializes as an experienced family nurse practitioner, and enjoys all aspects of family medicine and urgent care.

Jessica Miller grew up as a Coast Guard daughter and moved around a lot as a child. When her father retired while she was in high school, she set her roots in the community. Jessica attended Texas A&M University and obtained a bachelor's degree in biology in 2006, then attended nursing school at UTMB, graduating in 2009. Jessica first worked as a nurse in the hospital setting for two years and obtained her master's degree, graduating with honors in 2012.

Jessica works in urgent care and family practice as a Nurse Practitioner, as well as working in the ER for more experience. She enjoys providing care in the family practice setting and getting to know her patients and being able to see their continuity of care. Jessica has three children and enjoys spending time with her family when not working. As a child, Jessica did a lot of competitive horseback riding and continues to have a love for horses. She also enjoys exercising and spending time in the sun.

Dr. Amber Hairfield joined UTMB Pediatrics as faculty in 2011. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Hairfield received her doctorate from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. She also completed her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.

Dr. Hairfield has a special interest in medical education and is currently serving as the Pediatric Residency Program Director at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston.

In addition to serving in various medical education committees, Dr. Hairfield also serves in a few UTMB Quality Improvement committees for academic pediatric clinics

Dr. Thint has been residing in Clear Lake/Friendswood area since 1994. She began her medical profession after completing her medical school in her home town, Yangon, Myanmar, in 1984. After moving to the United States, she completed her pediatric residency program at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD (1992) and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship with the Children's National Medical Center and the Food and Drug Administration in Washington, DC (1994). Her first job was Assistant Clinical Professor position at University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) (1994-1996). She was responsible for teaching and research as well as taking care of both inpatients and outpatients. Her areas of interest and research were in middle ear infections.

Dr. Thint continued to see pediatric patients after she joined MacGregor Medical Group, a large multi-specialty group and continued pediatric clinical research from 1996-2002. The next adventure was a position as a pediatric hospitalist for four local hospitals in the Clear Lake/Pasadena area (Bayshore Medical Center, Clear Lake Regional Hospital, SE Memorial Hospital and Mainland Medical Center) from 2002-2007. She then joined Texas Children's Pediatrics for over 10 years (2007-2017) as a general pediatrician.

She has now come full circle and is very excited to be with UTMB again to care for your children. She is a board certified pediatrician and a mom. And she believes that listening to you is very important and that team work with you is very essential. This way she can strive to successfully keep your children at their highest quality of physical, emotional and social health.

Leslie Nabors was born in Mississippi and moved to Texas early in her childhood. She stayed in this great state and pursued a Bachelor's of Science in Health at Texas A&M University. After graduating from Texas A&M, she worked for a year in the Texas Medical Center where she prepared for enrollment into the physician assistant program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. She finished her training and graduated with a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies in August 2015. She is currently treating patients at the UTMB Health Family Medicine clinic in Angleton, Texas.

A decorated veteran that served in the Medical Corps in Iraq, Dr. Neely-Shelmire is a board-certified pediatrician with a passion for partnering with parents to raise healthy children through wellness goals, good nutrition, physical activity, healthy sleep habits, and an approach that balances the physical, emotional and developmental aspects of being a child. A parent herself with two adult sons and a host of nieces and nephews, she enjoys spending her free time running, kayaking and with family. She holds professional memberships with the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Pediatric Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Catholic Medical Association. Juanita has been an FNP working in Pediatrics for UTMB for about 15 years.  She speaks both English and Spanish.  Her certification is through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  She is also a member or Sigma Theta Tau, the national nursing honor society.  Although working with children is her passion, some special interests include working with animals and boxing.

Beverly Pennington completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. A few years later, she came back to UTMB to join the Geriatric Division as the Geriatric Nurse Practitioner serving the Galveston community. Beverly is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau which recognize superior achievements and developing leadership qualities. She is also an active member of organizations such as American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Hospice and Palliative Care Association, Texas Nurse Practitioners, and Texas Doctor of Nursing Practice.
