  • Dr. Niebuhr, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, is a Texas licensed pediatric psychologist. She works with children ages two through teens, and their families, especially with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, depression and anxiety disorders. Her practice is at Galveston Island Pediatric West clinic – with in-clinic and telehealth options. Generally, her treatment goals are to make sure the diagnosis is correct, to help parents be the best parents they can be, and to help children and teens learn to identify their feelings and have their voices heard. She works closely with her patients’ primary care and specialty care providers to coordinate mental health and medical care.

    Dr. Niebuhr is also a medical educator, having spent time teaching medical students, health professions students, residents, and faculty. Dr. Niebuhr is a on the faculty for the UTMB Scholars in Education program and a member of the UTMB Academy of Master Teachers and the Kenneth Shine UT System Academy of Health Science Education. She is a Distinguished Teaching Professor for the UT System and recipient of a UT System Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award. She is on the leadership for the Academic Pediatric Association’s Educational Scholars Program.

    She received her BA in Psychology/Sociology from Oklahoma City University, her MA and PhD in Developmental Psychology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, and completed two fellowships at UTMB in Pediatric Psychology & Developmental Disabilities and in Clinical Child Psychology.
