Dr. Abbey Berenson is a Professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology who specializes in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and Women's Health Care. She is also the Director of the UTMB Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Women's Health Care. Dr. Berenson received her medical degree and completed her residency at the Baylor College of Medicine and received a Ph.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Berenson is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her clinical interest include Women's Health Care research, HPV vaccines and vaccination, and contraception.
Dr. Berenson's research interests involve the study of reproductive-aged women's health. Her interest include: Comparative effectiveness studies among diverse populations of young women; Contraception practices, methods, and effects (clinical); and Interventions directed at cervical cancer prevention (clinical). She is also studying the quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine that requires three injections spaced 1 month and 6 months after the first vaccine, and is intended for use by adolescents and adults 9-26 years of age.
