Maria Patawaran, DNP, MSN, WHNP-BC is a graduate of The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where she obtained her Master of Science in Nursing. She achieved her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Texas Christian University in Dallas, Tx. Maria’s doctoral candidacy endeavored in finding solutions for high-risk pregnant patients with diabetes which she completed her translational research. Maria specializes as an experienced board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP, DNP). Her clinical interests include OBGYN, Maternal Fetal Medicine, High-Risk Pregnancy, Women’s Health, Family Planning, and Breast and Cervical Cancer prevention.
Maria also serves as the Administrative Director of UTMB’s Regional Maternal and Child Health Program, also known as the RMCHP-WIC Division. RMCHP-WIC is established by a total of 33 departments, which includes 14 RMCHP Clinics, 1 OBGYN Women’s Health Clinic, and 17 Women & Infant Care (WIC) Clinics throughout the greater Galveston and Houston area. The RMCHP employs 265 clinical support staff (Health System employees) and 58 mid-level providers (Academic Enterprise employees) to render care to 51,000 patients (approximately 170,000 annual visits).
