Dr. Trish Beach is Professor of Pediatrics, Co-Director of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics at UTMB and Director of the Child Safety and Protection Team. She graduated from medical school at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed her residency and Chief residency at UTMB.
Dr. Beach has been very active in medical care in the Department of Pediatrics. She spent many years as a pediatric educator, including roles with the Academic Pediatric Association and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Her professional practice has shifted to a role in the assessment and prevention of child maltreatment in recent years. She continues active participation in the education of UTMB medical students and pediatric residents. She maintains a small practice in general pediatrics and a practice focusing on the special needs of children involved in the foster care system.
Dr. Beach has been honored for her teaching excellence with the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Resident Education, the Department of Pediatrics Outstanding Junior Faculty Award for Education, and the Pediatric Educator Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education. She is Past-chair of the John P. McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine at UTMB, an entity charged with sustaining a culture that values and practices principles of scientifically-based compassionate care at UTMB, and modeling these principles for our learners.
A well-respected physician, Dr. Beach has been honored several times by Super Doctors®, an award given to selected physicians across the state based upon peer and patient recommendations.
