Allison Mitchell, DNP, APRN, AGPCNP-BC, is a certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Internal Medicine, at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She earned her Registered Nurse License in 2016, her Master of Science in Nursing-Nurse Practitioner in 2017, and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2019; all from Vanderbilt University Medical Center - Nashville, TN in which she remained top of her class earning the highest honor for her specialty. Her academic and clinical focus surrounds patients with complex chronic illness. Allison is a member of several national professional medical societies, such as, the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, American Society of Nephrology, American Nephrology Nurses Association, and the National Kidney Foundation. Recent presentations include Patient Activation and ESRD: The Impact of Patient Activation of Dialysis Modality Choice (NKF Spring Conference Poster Presentation, 2020) and Fundamentals of Managing HFrEF in Patients with CKD (AAHFN Annual Meeting Podium Presentation, 2018).
