Dr. Erin Cooney is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Medical Genetics & Metabolism at The University of Texas Medical Branch. She received her medical degree from the McGovern School of Medicine in Houston and completed her Pediatric and Medical Genetics Residencies as well as clinical fellowship in Medical Biochemical Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine - Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

Dr. Cooney was a recipient of the American College of Medical Genetics & Genomics Foundation Training Award and received Resident of the Year by the Baylor Department of Molecular and Human Genetics in 2017.

Dr. Cooney is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) and Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders (SIMD).

Dr. Cooney specializes in medical genetics and inborn errors of metabolism for patients of all ages. She also has an interest in medical education.
