About Me

Nancy Vanaphan, MS, DMSc, PA-C, is an experienced clinician with a background in urgent care, family and internal medicine, and women’s health. She cares for patients of all ages and has practiced in communities throughout Southeast Texas and the Rio Grande Valley.

Vanaphan believes patients are better equipped to make decisions about their health when they understand their diagnosis and treatment options. She takes time to listen to her patients' concerns, explain medical information in clear, understandable language and involve them in decisions about their care. She has a particular interest in preventive medicine and early detection and strives to provide efficient, high-quality care while ensuring patients feel heard and comfortable discussing their health.

Vanaphan earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Houston and completed her physician assistant education at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She later earned a Doctor of Medical Science in health care administration from the University of Lynchburg. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

In addition to caring for patients, Vanaphan is active in professional leadership and the advancement of the physician assistant profession. She has received recognition from The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) and professional organizations for her commitment to patient care, women's health, professionalism and service to the community.

Vanaphan speaks English and Thai and has medical Spanish proficiency. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.

Patient Reviews

Why do some clinicians have no ratings?
At UTMB, a clinician's ratings are only posted when she/he has a minimum of 30 completed surveys within the past twelve months. New-to-UTMB clinicians or individuals in less common areas of practice may be temporarily under this threshold. We set this baseline to ensure we offer the most accurate reflection of each Individual.
