  • Dr. Ronald W. Lindsey is Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Medical in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Lindsey is a highly acclaimed orthopedic surgeon-scientist with subspecialty training and expertise in musculoskeletal spine and trauma conditions. He completed his undergraduate education at Yale University and received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. After his orthopedic surgery residency, also at Yale University, he completed Fellowships in Orthopaedic Trauma/Internal Fixation, Spine Surgery, and Upper Extremity Reconstructive Surgery.

    Dr Lindsey's 30 (plus) year academic medical career has been dedicated to maintaining a vibrant evidence-based clinical practice bolstered by the development and inclusion of innovative and cutting-edge therapeutic techniques and technologies. He has a wide spectrum of clinical and basic science interests, and his original research includes surgical reconstruction of the spine, the pelvis, extremity injury from trauma, degenerative disorders, infection, and tumor resection. In addition to numerous peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters, Dr Lindsey's work has earned him many scientific and teaching awards, as well as membership on the editorial boards of major peer-reviewed journals and editorships.

  • Shibi Abhilash-Kunjumon works in UTMB as a Family nurse practitioner in Orthopedics Surgery. Shibi completed her bachelor of science in Nursing from India in 2000 and served in the Indian army for five years. She has been working with UTMB since 2009. She was Nurse Clinician V when she stepped out of the ICU to work as a Nurse Practitioner in the orthopedic clinic. She completed her master's in nursing in 2015 from UTMB. She treats patients of all ages for musculoskeletal issues and helped thousands of patients to find meaningful relief from chronic pain and return to their active lifestyle. She is very passionate about Bone Health and serves as a fracture Liaison practitioner in UTMB to prevent and to reduce fragility fractures in our society.

  • Dr. Bhardwaj joined UTMB's Department of Family Medicine in 2018. She is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine.

    Dr. Bhardwaj earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Doctor of Medicine from Ross University in Dominica, West Indies. She completed family medicine residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where she also served as Chief Resident in her final year of training. Dr. Bhardwaj also completed fellowship training in primary care sports medicine at Texas Tech University Health Science Center at El Paso.

  • Dr. Chanel Perkins is a native Houstonian. She graduated from Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions, fueling an early interest in medicine and health care. She went on to complete her undergraduate education at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Perkins later attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, OH, where she received her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine.

    Dr. Perkins completed a three-year comprehensive foot and ankle surgical residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. During her final year of training, she served as Section Chief Resident. While at Yale, Dr. Perkins received extensive training in elective, trauma, and reconstructive surgery. A significant focus of her training was the multidisciplinary approach towards diabetic limb salvage and diabetic wound care.

    Dr. Perkins is a current member of several professional organizations including the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatry Medical Association, Mary Susan Moore Medical Society, and the Texas Podiatric Medical Association. She is also an active member of the Junior League of Houston, Incorporated and also Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In her spare time, Dr. Perkins regularly volunteers in Downtown Houston at a homeless clinic providing foot care and gently-worn shoes to those in need.

  • Dr. Stephenson was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Norman, Oklahoma. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas with a BS in Aerospace Engineering. After graduation, she moved to Huntington Beach, California, where she worked on a Strategic Defense Initiative project for McDonnell Douglas Space Systems division. She left California to return to Texas where she completed her medical school prerequisites at the University of Houston. She completed her medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Stephenson also completed her residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas (UTMB).

    After completion of her residency, Dr. Stephenson remained at UTMB in the position of Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and began specializing in total hip and total knee arthroplasty. She continues to teach residents total hip and knee arthroplasty at UTMB in the position of Chief of the Adult Reconstruction Service. She also teaches first year medical students as a small group leader in Practice of Medicine, and is a member of the hospital-wide Blood Transfusion Committee.

    Dr. Stephenson has participated in several orthopaedic surgery mission trips to Central America as a member of the Project Rainbow team. She and her husband enjoy traveling and hiking and currently live in Tiki Island, Texas.
