About Me

Christine Neugebauer, PhD, LPC-S, MT-BC is a doctoral-level mental health clinician in the Department of Pediatrics with more than 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families across pediatric healthcare settings.

Christine approaches therapy as a collaborative process in which children, adolescents, and families are active partners in care. Her work is child- and family-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and grounded in an understanding that development, relationships, experiences, health, and environment all shape emotional well-being. She believes children and teens deserve to have their perspectives heard and to be treated with dignity and respect throughout the therapeutic process.

Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression and mood concerns, adjustment to illness and life changes, grief and loss, trauma, and school-related concerns. She draws from evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), cognitive-behavioral and narrative approaches, and integrates expressive arts when helpful to give children and adolescents additional ways to explore and communicate their experiences. Treatment is tailored to the developmental needs, strengths, interests, and goals of each child and family.

Christine values collaboration with all members of the child’s care team to support the whole child at the center of family and everyday life.

Why do some clinicians have no ratings?
At UTMB, a clinician's ratings are only posted when she/he has a minimum of 30 completed surveys within the past twelve months. New-to-UTMB clinicians or individuals in less common areas of practice may be temporarily under this threshold. We set this baseline to ensure we offer the most accurate reflection of each Individual.
