About Me
Dr. Xiangping Li joined the faculty at UTMB in 2013. Currently she serves as the Assistant Professor and the Director of Quality and Safety in the Department of Neurology. Her main interests are related to epilepsy, EEG, EMU (epilepsy monitoring unit), quality improvement in health care, and residency education.
She completed neurology residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport and Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship at University of Texas Health Sciences Center-Houston. Prior to UTMB, she worked as a neuro-hospitalist at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center and St. John Hospital in the clear lake area.
Besides her subspecialty interest in epilepsy, she enjoys working as a general neurologist and treating a variety of neurological conditions in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She offers Botox injections for chronic migraine prophylaxis, and interrogates vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) for medically intractable epilepsy.
She received a Master's degree in Public Administration in Health Policy and Management at Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University in 2003. She has gained additional training in health care quality improvement by attending UTMB clinical safety and effectiveness course in 2014.
Dr. Li is Board Certified in the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and Clinical Neurophysiology. She has also been a member of the American Academy of Neurology since 2007.
