She then moved to California where she completed her dietetic internship (2006) and received her M.S. degree in Nutritional Sciences (2009) from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She has worked in many areas of pediatric nutrition including Pediatric ICU (which included the post-surgical heart unit), Neonatal ICU, Genetics/Metabolic Clinic, Failure to Thrive Clinic, Nephrology/Hemodialysis Clinic, and High Risk Infant Clinic. She has gained her experience working at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California and Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. She has presented at FNCE and attends annual conferences to stay up-to-date with current research. She has a passion for patients with inborn errors of metabolism and works with Dr. Joseph Ray to provide ongoing assessments, education and support for these patients and their families. Comprehensive medical nutrition therapy is provided using ongoing laboratory data, growth patterns, food records and development to ensure optimal nutrition for patients. This includes recommendations for medical formulas, specialty medical foods, and pertinent medications/supplements throughout the different stages of life. Danielle provides coordination between patients and community resources such as low protein cooking classes, grocery store tours, and recipes. Assistance is also provided to help families obtain the necessary medical formulas and foods through insurance and other available resources. Danielle is certified by the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification. Danielle is an active member of the Genetic Metabolic Dietitians International (GMDI), the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, and the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group.
