Joel Chacko, MD

Dr. Chacko is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Surgery within the division of Trauma and Acute Care surgery at University of Texas Medical Branch.

He was born and raised in Galveston, Texas. He graduated from Collegiate High School at College of the Mainland. He obtained his bachelor's degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Clinical Laboratory Sciences. He completed medical school at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in El Paso, Texas. Dr. Chacko completed his general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas (2016-2021). He played a key role in the build out of a level 3 trauma center in Texas (2022).

He is excited to serve the people of Galveston County and surrounding communities, to educate medical students and residents, and to contribute to the vision of UTMB.
