Ulysses Gardner, MD, MBA

Ulysses G. Gardner, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at UTMB Health and serves as Director of Brachytherapy and Gynecologic Radiation Oncology. He is trained to treat a broad range of tumors using advanced radiation therapy techniques, with specialized clinical and research interests in gynecologic cancers, precision radiation, and improving treatment outcomes and quality of life. Dr. Gardner earned his medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and completed his radiation oncology residency at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His research in cervical cancer has received support from the National Cancer Institute.

As both a cancer survivor and a former radiation therapist, Dr. Gardner brings a unique perspective to patient care. Before becoming a physician, he spent more than a decade as a radiation therapist at MD Anderson Cancer Center, working closely with patients throughout their treatment. These experiences continue to shape his approach to medicine and his belief that excellent cancer care begins with listening. He strives to ensure that patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options and receive evidence-based, individualized care that combines advanced technology with compassion.
