Kevin H. McKinney MD, FACE, is the Charles C. Sprague, MD Distinguished Professor in Internal Medicine, and is a general endocrinologist with an interest in calcium and bone metabolism, diabetes and hyperthyroidism. He has been at UTMB Health since 1988, completing medical school, Internal Medicine residency, and Endocrinology fellowship. He has been a faculty member since 1997; he is currently Interim Director of the Division of Endocrinology and the Stark Diabetes Clinic. He is active in medical school education and serves as Co-Director of the second-year Endocrine and Reproduction course. He is also devoted to resident and fellow education and is the Endocrinology Fellowship Program Director.
Dr. McKinney has an administrative interest in drug management and previously served as a fourteen-year Chair of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee for the UTMB Health System. He enjoys advocating for physicians and the patients that they care for, and he collaborates with various groups dedicated to the cause of eliminating racial and ethnic healthcare disparities. He enjoys traveling and participating in outdoor activities with his son and wife.
