  • Dr. Carlson is the Director of the Center for Audiology & Speech Pathology and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology. She practices audiology at UTMB, seeing both adults and pediatrics. Dr. Carlson has been active in state and national committees and boards related to quality measures, standard of care, consumer protection, education, and coding and reimbursement. She is a past-president of the American Academy of Audiology and the Texas Academy of Audiology. Degrees include a PhD and MS in Communication Disorders & Sciences, an MS in Rehabilitation Administration and Services from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a BA in Speech Pathology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

    Her clinical focus areas are amplification, including hearing aids, assistive listening devices, cochlear and bone conduction implants, tinnitus and special diagnostic testing.
