Alicia Barren began her nursing career with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) graduating in 2008. Upon graduation, Alicia went to work at the PICU in John Sealy Hospital at UTMB as a RN and then transferred to Labor and Delivery after Hurricane Ike. She wanted to be more closely involved in her patients' care and began her Master's of Science degree while continuing to work in Labor and Delivery. Alicia graduated as a Family Nurse Practitioner from UTMB in 2014.
Alicia is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is also a member of the International Nursing Honors Society, Sigma Theta Tau.
Alicia is currently seeing patients in the UTMB Community Based Clinics and is dedicated to improving the health of the people in Galveston County through treatment as well as giving her patients the tools they need to lead a healthy lifestyle.
