Dr. Rommel Izaguirre is a Pediatric Ophthalmologist with the UTMB Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He provides patient care at the UTMB Eye Clinic in Galveston.
Dr. Izaguirre attended the Universidad Nacional Autonóma de Nicaragua, School of Medicine in Nicaragua and completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Dr. Izaguirre decided to specialize in Pediatric Ophthalmology and has completed several Fellowships. He completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship at the Children’s National/George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Izaguirre focuses on Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus. He also focuses on research as part of his practice and is interested in Exotropia, Retinopathy of prematurity, Complex Strabismus, Surgery of Orbital and Nasolacrimal Diseases and Ultra-widefield retinal imaging in Pediatric Eye diseases.
